This photo was taken on the Wisconsin River while I was on the famous Ducks Boat Tour through the Wisconsin Dells.Time
We were up early to beat the crowds and were able to get on the first running of the tour, it was about 10:30am on a dreary, slightly misty day. At this moment the sun started to break trough and the rest of the tour was wonderful!Lighting
The trick in the Dells is to be able to capture the grit of the sandstone, so sunshine is king, but I like the way the filtered sun helps the rock standout and the wetness of the trees make them pop a vibrant greenEquipment
I was using my Nikon D750 full frame camera with a standard lens, nothing fancy as we were on a boat in some rain!Inspiration
The Dells inspire me every time we go visit! You are surrounded by amazing nature; forests, rivers, animals and it is so serene.Editing
There was a bit of post processing as I really wanted to get the stone to be "crispy" as I call it. I used a tone mapping filter. In my camera bag
I always carry my Nikon D750 with the standard lens, a fisheye lens, a 70-300mm zoom and a larger zoom depending on where we are going. Also, a 2" lens ball and a tripod/monopod combo, just in case.Feedback
Just get out there and follow the art that flows from your heart!! If you can see it you can capture it, and ALWAYS, enjoy it!!
