The water sniffer is a blue damselfly, and is especially common on heather land and fens, but also distributed in other waters. It has a wide light blue shoulder stripe. That blue is wider than the black stripe below it. The water sniffer can also be recognized by the dot on the segment just behind its thorax. He has quite a lot of blue on the abdomen and those pieces are about the same size.
