Wow they are very unusual……. Diaethria anna, also known as Anna's eighty-eight, is a butterfly in wet tropical forests in Middle America. On rare occasions, it can be found as a stray in south Texas. Its upperside is dark brown with a metallic bluish-green band on the forewings. Wikipedia

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken on the Argentinian side of the Iguassu waterfalls at the border of Brazil, this is the domain of the Diaethria Anna buttrfly, better known as the eighty-eight butterfly.

Time

In the late afternoon.

Lighting

The huge waterfalls make the air very humid, causing an ever present mist over the area. This is causing a subdued sunlight on everything around.

Seeing those two numbered butterflies meeting each other, just in front of me, atracked me to make this shot.
