I took this while spending some beautiful summer days in the grand Teton National Park.Time
They say the middle of the day is not a good time for photography-but that is when I took this. I had been up early for sunrise the last few mornings, so I had decided to go back the hotel and have nap before I went out for sunset. I just couldn't drive by this scene and not stop for a few more shots.Lighting
It was a bright sunny day, and about 90 degrees out in the middle of the afternoon. Typically not a good time for photography, but I like the way the sun made the horses kind of shine.Equipment
I use a Sony A99II and on it most of the time is my Tamron 28-300 lens. I love it's versatility. For this image I was just hand holding my camera. I have a Suiri tripod which was sitting in my vehicle. Sometimes for animals that are moving it is just easier to be hand holding.Inspiration
I am a horse lover and love the mountains, so what a better combination could there be to stop and photograph! The clouds in the sky were an added touch to the beautiful mountain scene on a beautiful summer day.Editing
I usually just add a bit of contrast and some detail to my photos. In my camera bag
I always keep a spare camera with me, just in case my main one would fail-or I would trip again and drop it. I have neutral density filters and a polarizer in my bag along with cleaning cloths. I also carry a Sony 16-50 lens for when I need something wider than my 28-300.Feedback
I have to say that if you have never been to the Tetons, you should make it a plan. Such beautiful mountains and scenery that they just take your breath away. If you don't feel like hiking just keep driving around the loop roads and you will see something different with each time you make a loop. There also are plenty of pull offs along the road with great views all around you.
