This was around 4:00 PM, when we had just started our hike to the Schäfler peak. We had been driving all night to make it to a location in southern Germany for sunrise. After shooting that location and grabbing breakfast, we hit the road again and drove straight to the foot of the mountain. With barely any sleep (literally 2 hours max) we began our hike. We had packed so much stuff (sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent, food, drinks, clothing, photo gear) that it took us less than 30 minutes to be completely exhausted. People we encountered on the path asked us with disbelief if we were going up there this late. "Well, you're young and in good shape, you'll make it" said a woman while we grabbed our gear to take this shot, 30 minutes in. Knowing what I know now, I laugh at our first attempt at such a hike. But boy what do I cherish this memory ❤️
