This photo was taken in my studio after we finished up a shoot on spring-flowering branches. I took some of my favorite color shots from that shoot and turned them into black and white to highlight the beauty and drama of a part of the plant people don't normally choose to look at.Time
N/ALighting
I love to use a single light source with a bounce card for a more dramatic feel.Equipment
I used a Nikon D750 with a 70-200 2.8 lens handheld at a 60th.Inspiration
This shot started out being a very wide color shot with more varieties of flowering branches. The movement of this one branch caught my eye so I ended up pulling in and just focusing on him for a few shots. After turning them black and white to highlight the beautiful texture in the whimsy of the branches, the velvety tepals and the way they were hanging their head - it became my favorite!Editing
The only post-processing done to this was turning it to black and white. In my camera bag
I spent the first part of my career collecting gear and the back half trying to reduce down to the absolute basics so I can travel light and set-up quickly. What's in my bag right now is a Nikon z6 because I do a lot of video and photo, Rode go mics, a 24-70, 60mm macro, 70-300, and a benro tripod.Feedback
