Rocky decided to follow the sun and lie down in his favorite spot. When the sun shines over his favorite resting spot, it REALLY becomes his most favorite place in the house.
The Winter sun was clear that day casting sharp shadows everywhere in its path. The resulting photograph features very strong contrast and afternoon warmth.

Location
This photo was made in my brother's kitchen.Time
This photo was made shortly after sunrise when the sun is still pretty low in the sky while casting sharp shadows across anything in the path of the light.Lighting
I further emphasized the strong lighting during editing. Boosting both contrast and darkening blacks and shadows gives this digital image a more color reversal film look.Equipment
Simply used an older Samsung camera phone!Inspiration
The light. The most challenging thing for me in photography is to have the patience to seek out or wait for interesting light. The most mundane scenes can be simply transformed into something wonderful if you consciously observe the light.Editing
Above the heightened contrast and deeper shadows, I slightly added a bit more warmth using color temperature. I also added a bit more vibrance (not saturation) so as to not overly push the oranges and reds in the color of Rocky's fur. A bit of sharpening and clarity adds a bit more detail as well as makes the graphic blocking of shadows a bit more pronounced. In my camera bag
Most of the time, I've got my Samsung camera phone on me as well as my Fujifilm X-E3 with the XF23 F2 lens attached. My other camera is a late 1970s Nikon FE with a 50mm f1.8 Series E lens attached. A small assortment of filters, lens hood, batteries, lens blower, cleaning cloths, shutter release cable, camera strap, tiny notebook...and a pack of peppermint gum rounds out the remaining space of a small Peak Designs camera bag.Feedback
Be observant...Be patient....Be present in your photography. Quiet times like these seem to be less and less in our rapidly changing world....and this style of shooting can be almost like meditation. No expectations....No deadlines....just be there and be aware of your surroundings before you start thinking of any photographic possibilities. :)
