Behind The Lens

Location

I made this photograph while sitting in the front passenger seat of a moving car driving along the St. Lawrence River in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada.

Time

Approximately 2:30 pm EST. (mid-afternoon)

Lighting

It was generally a slightly overcast day which enabled the predominance of highlights from snow and ice not to burn out.

Equipment

I used an older Samsung Galaxy mobile phone camera (ca. 2017) and placed it up against the car window while viewing the back screen looking for interesting compositions.

Inspiration

After moving from a large city like Toronto, I wanted to slowly investigate my new surroundings.

Editing

Since the camera image was already in my mobile phone's gallery, I decided to use a combination of Lightroom Mobile, Snapseed, and Polarr to create the final edit and 4 x 5 crop. I like the 4 x 5 crop because it has the appearance of a large format camera image.

In my camera bag

Since my move, my regular Fujifilm X-E3 camera is still packed away, so I have been creating more mobile device photographs using a Samsung Galaxy phone camera.

Feedback

The old adage rings true: The best camera is the one you have with you. Unless you are a master storyteller with words, get a picture of it!
