Location
This photo was taken in Leipzig, Germany only a few minutes from where I live.Time
This was shot on a summer evening during blue hour.Lighting
Blue hour and city lights can make some interesting visuals. (City lighting only)Equipment
I shot this with a Canon 6D with a 24mm Sigma Lens on a tripod.Inspiration
I was inspired, by a couple of beers and a friend, reminding me that I have a bunch of camera equipment.Editing
I edit almost all my photos using camera raw and photoshop. I gave this one a two-tone effect to intensify the separation of sky and subject for juxtaposition. In my camera bag
The contents of my camera bag change fairly often, and I'm no gear head, so I like to shoot with as little as possible. Sometimes I pack a camera with a couple of lenses, a tripod, and a filter or two. Maybe I also have a boom mic and a sound recorder for video stuff, or maybe just a camera, with one lens and 6 beers. Like most people on planet Earth, I have a smartphone, which I also use to capture images.Feedback
Low light gives you the ability to capture long exposures. If you want to shoot something like this, then you need to find a spot that is artificially lit to a point where you can still get a 1 or 2-second exposure without blowing out the highlights. Close your aperture down if need be, and wait for moving elements like trains or cars to drive by in the background. Get your subject to stand more still than mine, because my subject was moving a bit too much and as you can see the image is not sharp. (To be fair, I was drinking) Use a timer, trigger, or whatever remote settings you have to avoid camera shake. I personally think this is a good example of a well-composed but technically flawed photo. (Due to beer effect) (How many triangles do you see?)
