I took this photo on the shoreline of Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma. It is a lake of over 700 shoreline miles and this was off of highway 9 several miles east of Eufaula, Ok.Time
This was taken at sunset last few moments just as the sun gives it's last peek and most glow.Lighting
As to lighting I just let nature be the light. The light and color was just right. I thought it was a most beautiful sunset for Christmas Eve.Equipment
This was taken with my Canon Powershot SX400 IS which has nice zoom and does well all around for a Point and Shoot.Inspiration
Well two things I love is Sunset and Christmas time. We did not get any snow for Christmas this year but wow what a lovely sunset for Christmas Eve! Sunsets are lovely around the lake but some are more than others and this one I just could not keep from stopping to take some photos!Editing
Not really. I may have tweaked the contrast just a bit to keep the reflections, tree silhouettes and glow of the sunset balanced. It really did not need much at all. I encourage any who have never visited the lake to come check out our sunsets! 700 shoreline miles of them!In my camera bag
My first ever DSLR, Nikon D3100 with kit lens 18-55 mm 5.6. Canon powershoot SX 400 IS, my waterproof Fuji XP90, and just recently got a 3.5 lens waiting for its arrival in the mail. Hope to get some milky way shots this spring with it. Comes with a lens hood too so I can go back to get more waterfall pictures from the top level that faces the sun more at State Falls Natural Park.Feedback
Timing is important. When I go to a new place to capture a sunset, I like to scope out which spot would be best to capture the last glow of the sun, angle, where sun rays will be strongest, reflections from the glow etc. I always try to manage pictures in different directions at sunset glow.
