Location
I was walking in the car park by my local river (Ulverstone, Tasmania, Australia) and turned around when I heard a lot of loud bird squawking.Time
Mid morning I think it was when I took the photo.Lighting
It was just a regular day with lighting but the sunlight just aimed a bit extra light on the birds which also grabbed my attention.Equipment
Canon 77D camera with my Tamron 18-400mm lens (my favourite all-rounder). I didn't use a tripod as I was just wandering with my camera in-hand.Inspiration
I heard a lot of bird noise - loud squawking sounds which turned out to belong to the birds. I noticed that these two silver gulls and I felt sorry for the bird that seemed to be being attacked. Quick photo taken and I moved forward which disturbed the birds and they separated. I don't know if they were fighting over any food, eg chips, as I didn't see anything nearby that might be the reason for the "attack".Editing
I just upped the saturation level of red a little bit as the sunlight already had highlighted them. A tad of highlight also. The sun had done most of the work for me.In my camera bag
I have a 24mm lens, intervelometer, batteries, torch (to see the dials at night), spare battery charged, battery charger, instruction manual that I always forget to read, spare memory cards.Feedback
My only suggestion is to always have a fully charged battery in your camera so that when something grabs your attention you are ready on the spot. I love taking my camera everywhere as I have found that on the times I do not heed my advice, that's the time something special happens and I regret not having my camera with me. I often don't look for anything in particular (though sometimes I try to find flowers or birds, or reflections) as it frees up my senses to capture anything on the spur of the moment.
