Behind The Lens

Location

It was taken at St Helens, a town in Tasmania (Australia) one morning and I was packing up my tripod and camera gear as the sunrise "show" was over I thought. I turned around for a last look and wow - the sudden vibrance in the sky with the boat and pelican coming in the land on the water really made it "pop". I was so taken with the unusual half and half colours - half bright gold, half dull blue. Snap. snap,. snap madly with my camera while the show was on. Happy me. I love taking photos of pelicans too, and the timing all just "gelled".

Time

About 7.30am - a winter's morning.

Lighting

F4, iso 800. 1/640 exp.

Equipment

Canon 600D camera, tripod. Tamron wide angle lens.

Inspiration

I love sunrise photos, pelicans and water, and well - just about anything :) I love reflections on the water too - so there were so many components that formed what was captured.

Editing

I don't think I did anything to it, as the vibrancy was there, the clarity too.

In my camera bag

Well, I have a couple of bags - one I keep in my car with my wide angle lens, fisheye lens, glass ball and some filters (for starry effects which I forget to use, and also some for my slow motion effects). The other bag contains 2 lens, a Canon 24mm and my favourite - a Tamron 18-400mm lens. Intervelometer for my astro/aurora australis shots, spare battery, spare memory cards.

Feedback

I would say "just get out there, any time, anywhere" with your camera - and always have the battery charged! and carry a spare battery and spare memory cards. Have fun - get "wowed" by nature's displays.
