Behind The Lens

Location

This photowas taken from the balcony of my apartment approximately 10km from the fireworks.

Time

The NYE Fireworks happen on Sydney Harbour for 12 minutes at midnight NYE.

Lighting

I used a Tamrom SP 150-600mm lense to zoom in and cut out the surrounding city lights.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon 40D and a Tamrom SP 150-600mm G2 lens resting on the edge of balcony wall.

Inspiration

Since COVID-19 stopped us all attending the fireworks, watching from home was the only options. Most people in Sydney would be able to view the fireworks except on TV. I hoped my photos would enable others to share in the experience.

Editing

I simply cropped the photo to fit it to 16x9 format.

In my camera bag

My Canon 40D and my goto lenses - Tamron SP 150-600mm G2, Tamron SP 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 Di II, Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8

Feedback

Given the essence of fireworks you need to take many photos quickly to ensure that you capture the best moments.
