Behind The Lens

Location

Gail arrived in Hedgesville with a fury! We got about 12 inches of snow in 24 hours! I live In what Is called the Panhandle of WV and we do get some wild and crazy storms!

Time

This was about 4:40 PM, and the snow flakes were HUGE! We were getting almost 2 inches an hour! It was absolutely gorgeous. I lived In Upstate NY most of my life before moving down to VA, MD and then here, And I have never seen snow quite like this!

Lighting

Besides the storm in 2016, this was amazing!

Equipment

I have a Nikon D 750, Are use this most of the time. Are used a 28 to 300 variable zoom lens also an icon for the most part. I also have a Nikon 70 to 200, 2.8, this Is my most amazing lens but only good for certain shots. I also have a few other lenses but nothing like the pros have. I am just a retired teacher and coach who loves to take photographs.

Inspiration

Oh I love the snow, and this new storm was epic! When the big flakes were coming down it was so inspiring I just couldn’t stop taking photos so I took pictures at different times of the day and different moments when the snow is just looking different! It was just nice to be here and be able to take pictures at different times of the storm.

Editing

I’m a realist so all my photos are pretty much what I see is what you say. I do not play with my photographs except for enlarging them. Now and again I might play with the light and the color just to enhance them slightly but not very often.

In my camera bag

I haveNikon D 750, a Nikon 28-300 variable zoom lens. A 50 mm Nikon lens. A 20 mm wide angleNikon lens. A 16- 80 Nikon lens.

Feedback

I think the biggest thing in photography is patience. This is an any thing that is moving, people, animals, and birds! Now if you are doing scenery you’re really have to worry about patience because it’s not gonna change much except for lighting now that is going to change. Now with people you do have to worry about how they react to you so you have to make sure that you know how to work with people, patience is very important.
