Re-edit, over the years I've found improvement in my editing skills and this was always one of my favorite dog photos so reposting it. It's amazing how you learn little tricks that simplify editing for me the focus came on the front eye then softening and shadowing the opposite side that is slightly hidden. Adding a simple micro texture to certain areas of the face I wanted the focus on. Used Lightroom and Topaz Details. Tip: Little trick for eyes I just learned on my own. Use the sharpener at strength 4, I set for size of eye and hit it 3 times, then make it a tad smaller just to cover mid-way from center of the eye and hit it 1-2 times, I then do a smaller diameter so I can go around the edges of the eyes and the pupil with burner set at 5, I lighten the whites of the eyes slightly and run the blur at 20% to smooth. To bring back the glassiness I also hit the colored part of the eye once at 20% with the blur tool. If I don't have enough color or texture of the eye I will go into Filter Forge and create an eye, then you fit it as a layer and use color or hue on the layer to make a transparency.
