Behind The Lens
Location
This photograph was taken on one of the beaches at Block Island in RI.Time
This is one of my favorite recent pics. I remember walking on the rocky beach trying to avoid twisting my ankle since this light house was about 3/4th of a mile away from a proper road. The time was probably around 3 PM in the afternoon.Lighting
The sun was at the exact same position as it is in the image and the lighting was perfect. Since it was almost close to sunset, and it was slightly crowded, the glare was not as much,.Equipment
I used a Nikon D5200, with a Nikkor 55-300 mm Zoom Lens.Inspiration
I have always been fascinated by lighthouses and it is actually hard to find one in NJ where there are not a lot of people around. The rocky beach and the covid restrictions kind of made this beach less crowded and I was able to get a clear shot of the lighthouse. I would love to find more lighthouses across the country and capture them once we are back to a normal routine.Editing
I actually manipulated the image a little bit for the effects, i.e. the solar flare, decreased the saturation and manipulated the tone, and increased the sharpness a little so that the clouds look more defined. Added a vignette effect to the image after the processing was finished. In my camera bag
Usually my phone is really good for taking pictures, I rely heavily on the Galaxy series. Besides that, whenever I carry my bag, a D5200, 55-300 mm zoom lens, 35 mm portrait lens, and 85 mm macro lens is always in it. I do carry a couple of lens hoods as well.Feedback
What I always say, is just be prepared, goes a long way! You never know what captures your eye and you'd want to capture it through your lens!
