Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was take in Grangetown in Middlesbrough i pass this pylon most days and have had the shot in mind for quite a long time

Time

This is one of my favourite images, i pass this most days on my commute to work, i was just waiting for the right light and weather conditions. I remember the buzz of the electric as it was a misty overcast day.

Lighting

I like the misty sky as it gave the background a nice crisp colour without any distractions. i wanted the image to be symetrical and draw the viewers eyes into the centre of the geometric shapes. i had planned it to be a black and white image from the start

Equipment

I used a Canon 100D with the standard 18-55 kit lens, handheld, no other equipment was used

Inspiration

I had previously been passed this image whilst riding a bike and suffered a punctured tyre very close to this location, so i had a look under the pylon to see how it looked with a quick shot off my phone, it looked so good i knew i had to go back with my Canon 100D and set it up properly

Editing

I used the Photoshop lightroom mobile app, i resized to make it a square and turned it black and white

In my camera bag

I carry a Canon 100D with the standard 18-55 kit lens, a 50mm prime lens and also a sigma 70-300 lens. i feel this gives me enough options for most images. i also carry a variable ND filter from Gobe incase i fancy doing some long exposures, i also carry a lens ball just for a bit of fun. i have a small compact travel tripod and also a gorilla pod for the tricky places.

Feedback

Just photos of things you like, i dont always carry my dslr so take snap shots on my phone with a view of going back to setup the image better at a later date. Dont forget to look up!
