Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Westmount Park in Montreal, which is one of the nicest and cleanest parks in the city.

Time

The photo was taken around 3pm.

Lighting

I used only natural light for this look because I wanted it to have a natural autumn look to it.

Equipment

This was shot on my Nikon d750 with a 50mm Nikkor f1.8 lens, in order to blur the background.

Inspiration

The subject in the photo almost died during surgery. During the shoot he wasn’t well but wanted to express himself in a different way. By lying in the leaves, I wanted to express his gratitude for life that even laying in leaves makes him feel comforted.

Editing

I developed the photo in photo shop and used a complimentary colour scheme of orange in mid tones and blue highlights.

In my camera bag

I always carry my Nikon d750, with my 50mm, 24-120mm and 35mm Nikkor lens.. just in case I may need it I carry a Westcott fj400 strobe with a soft box.

Feedback

Do not be afraid to get into some interesting positions in order to get your shot. Don’t be afraid to get dirty by laying on the cold ground.
