Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is taken at Mount Pelion in Greece half an hour drive from Volos city.

Time

I took this image at afternoon , if I remember well almost half an hour before the sunset .

Lighting

It was a really misty evening that day and I was wandering in the woods when suddenly there was an opening in the sky which made the lighting conditions perfect for photography.

Equipment

For this image I used my Nikon D610 with the Nikkor 20mm f/1.8 G on my Benro tripod .

Inspiration

As I mentioned above I was wandering in the woods because of the misty day when suddenly I found this beautiful horse resting alone. So it didn't take much to unpack my gear and capture this beautiful scene with my camera.

Editing

As I always do I edited the raw file in lightroom for the basic adjustments and after in photoshop I did some extra color work and created a more dreamy and surreal atmosphere.

In my camera bag

In my bag there is always my Nikon D610 and two of my favorite lenses . The Nikkor 20mm f/1.8 G which you can use for many different types of photography and the Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED which is a really descent and sharp lens. I also have two ND filters one 6stop and one 10stop for long exposure shots.

Feedback

My advice for capturing similar scenes is to be often outside in the field and explore places as much as you can. Of course you will need also some luck with the weather conditions like I had that day. The mist made the scene totally different.
