I took this photo at Kochelsee , Germany which is a really beautiful and quite place .Time
This image is taken during dawn and few minutes before Sunrise . I had to drive almost 40 minutes to get there from Garmisch Partenkirchen and I had to wake up about two hours before sunrise . I would do that again for sure .Lighting
I wanted to shoot the three cabins with the mountains on the background. I had on my left the first light from the sun which illuminated the peaks and also the light of the moon which completed perfectly my natural lighting set up .Equipment
For this image I used my Nikon D610 with the Nikkor 20mm f/1.8 G on my Benro tripod .Inspiration
My favorite element in photography is water . Most of the times I am trying to find places with water and especially lakes because if you are lucky enough you can get some reflections too. In Kochelsee you can find that and you can also fill your frame with these beautiful cabins while having the mountains on the background. So I thought that with all the above and during dawn , I can take a beautiful image .Editing
Yes I always do post - processing in my images . I use two stages to get to the final result . First I edit the raw file in lightroom for basic adjustments and to prepare my image for the second stage which is photoshop, where I create and give the final mood in my images . In photoshop I do the color work and I am trying to give a more surreal and dreamy feeling. .In my camera bag
In my bag there is always my Nikon D610 and two of my favorite lenses . The Nikkor 20mm f/1.8 G which you can use for many different types of photography and the Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED which is a really descent and sharp lens. I also have two ND filters one 6stop and one 10stop for long exposure shots.Feedback
If you want to take a similar image the first thing you have to do is to wake up early to get there because the best light is during sunrise. If you are planning to do that is better to visit the place a day before so you can explore the area and to find the perfect spot for you and to find the composition you want. Of course you will need a tripod and you have to be lucky to get some beautiful reflections on the lake .
