Behind The Lens

Location

In the valley of the Livingstone River in Alberta Canada

Time

First thing in the morning

Lighting

Sunlight was coming through the trees and from where I was standing it produced what is called Rim Lighting around the horse's heads and made their breath on a cold morning visible.

Equipment

Nikon D800E and a 28-300mm Lens

Inspiration

I enjoy horses and there is always something picturesque when you are near them. The morning provided light that you don't easily find elsewhere.

Editing

Very little just some sharpening and a little saturation.

In my camera bag

NIKON D850, 14-24mm f/2.8, 105mm Micro, 85mm f/1.8, a Manfrotto tripod with a ball head on it. More and more my cell phone is becoming a part of the equipment. I use it to trigger the shutter.

Feedback

Make sure you take images of the things you know. Return to the places regularly with a camera as the lighting will be different and there may be a whole new feeling about the photograph.
