An outstanding image !
Excellent depth, detail and clarity.
The dilapidated structure is a fantastic find and, tells a quite a story.

Location

Just at dawn.Lighting
We had camped near this old abandoned farmhouse on a friend's land. I knew when I drove on to the property that the old building would be interesting in the morning light so I got myself set up to be awake and ready for the sunrise. It was good fortune that the sky was interesting and dramatic. I had originally envisioned this as a Black and White image but I really enjoyed the colors in the image and as a result, left it in color.Equipment
NIKON D800E, Manfroto Tripod with a ball head mount, a variety of NIKON and SIGMA lenses. The lens that was used in this image was my walk around lens a Nikon 28-300mm Zoom.Inspiration
I like old farm buildings as much for the stories that could be told for each one as for the images themselves. They are a bit of history and much of the details of what happened there have been lost.Editing
The image was taken in a RAW (NEF) format. It was processed using Lightroom and Photoshop. Detail in the shadows was increased and saturation was increased. I changed the exposure in a few of the places on the image to bring out features that were not visible otherwise. In my camera bag
NIKON D800E, Olympus Stylus Tough, SONY Video Camera, Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8, Nikon 85mm f/1.8, Nikon 24-300mm Zoom, SIGMA 150-600mm Zoom, NIKON 26mm Fisheye, NIKON 50mm f/1.8, filters, of a variety of types, Flash Gun many spare batteries.Feedback
My wife and I came upon this spot more or less by accident late in the day. Because we were going to be camping near it I was able to plan the images that I wished to take in the following morning. So in a sense there was both serendipity involved with some planning. Being willing to get out of bed early in the day leaving enough time to get properly set up for the shoot is important. You can always nap in the middle of the day..
