Location
I took this shot in the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise national park, Italy.Time
Early afternoon, after a morning hike to reach the area.Lighting
Even if in the middle of the day, the autumn light is not too hard and the foliage colors of the beechwood in the background helped to create the atmosphere.Equipment
My Nikon D500 with a Sigma Sport 150-600mm. I also used a Manfrotto BeFree tripod which is not the best option for a tele lens in terms of stability but for sure it is in terms of weight during the most challenging hikes!Inspiration
I love to photograph wildlife and the apennine chamois (Rupicapra pyrenaica ornata) is one of my favorite subject. I like spend time observing its behavior and its environment, the rocky areas on the mountains above the margin of the woods.Editing
Just minor adjustments in Lightroom. In my camera bag
To be honest I am not so passionate about the last available technology... I use a Nikon D500 with a Nikkor 16-80 mm to be always ready. I usually bring also a Tamron 10-24 mm and, for wildlife, a Sigma sport 150-600 mm. Manfrotto tripods and F-stop backpack.Feedback
The photo itself is not a difficult one, but of course photographing the apennine chamois requires some knowledge of the subject and its habitat, just like any other wild animals. To take a photo like this be prepared to hike in the mountains for 2-3 hours (each way) with a 15/20 Kilograms backpack, to long waits under a camouflage blind and to get back home, more often than expected, without the desired shot.
