This is a close-up of a pretty Cockatiel hen, whom I 'rescued' from a pet shop several years ago. She was so clearly miserable in the cage she shared with various other birds - mostly chatter-box budgies - that I had to buy her and bring her home.
Well, she wasn't too keen on staying with me, either, for after several months she decided to break free. The clever little mite carefully chewed away at the fly screen of the door (where her cage sat; she had free range of the room). Just a bit at a time each day. Within less than a week, she was gone, and no one knew anything about the hole in the screen until after she'd left!
