A digital manipulation I made from a free-to-share pic (the background featuring Amanita Muscaria mushrooms, original photographer unknown), butterflies (also courtesy of free-to-share-photographer unknown) and two of my little fairy figurines - plus my 'logo' purple frog ;)
I wanted the fairies to appear 'between realms' so that in part, they look like they're in our realm, yet they're also appearing to us from their own faery world.

Location

Time

There was no particular time of day with this picture, as it was made entirely in photo manipulation software. The hours, however, were all over the place, wherever I could spare the time to create it.

Lighting

Lighting in Digital Art is something you have to consider if you're wanting realism in your pictures. I look at what the lighting conditions are in the background scene (in this case, the leaves and woodland ground level) and then work any additional features into that.

Equipment

A camera for the photos of the two fairies and purple frog. Everything else was made in my digital art software program.

Inspiration

I love the Fantasy genre and was inspired to put the fairies into this mushroom scene because these type of mushrooms seem to be the idyllic 'fairy scene'.

Editing

A lot of work went into it because I was trying different features. Initially there were 3 fairies (one on top of the big mushroom on the left), but it was also one of my early works. Since then I've had a lot more practice with blending the graphics into the collective scene, so things like shadows, perspective, tone etc. look more realistic.
