This photo was taken on a chance meet up with some wild Common Dolphin's out in the Tasman Sea. The conditions were incredible.Time
I was out with a friend scouting the Sea just after sunrise when we spotted a pod of about 25 Dolphins.Lighting
I used natural light only for this one. There was an element of risk with this shot as I was shooting directly into the sun.Equipment
I use a Canon G7x mark ii in a Meikon housing. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
Taking photos of wild Dolphin's is always a challenge as they move so fast, but these three seemed a bit more relaxed with my presence. I was attempting to get a split shot as these Dolphin's all dipped at the same time. I love how the surface of the water helped in blocking out some of the direct sunlight and added a real mood to the shot.Editing
In lightroom I had to lower the highlights and lift the contrast quite a bit with this one. General adjustments were made with dehaze, sharpening, clarity, and exposure. In my camera bag
Canon G7x mark ii, Canon G16, Meikon underwater housings.Feedback
It's hard to plan anything with wild animals so you just need to be prepared at all times. I find when I am relaxed the animals will also tend to relax giving you the best chance to get the photo you are after.
