This photo is a composite. I took a picture of my dog running in the back yard and then added this beautiful flower field background in post.Time
This was a last minute afternoon shoot. I wanted to get a few pictures of my dog running so we went out to the backyard and had some fun.Lighting
I was lucky to have soft lighting from the cloud cover for this shoot. This allowed me to place my dog into the field and match the lighting of the background pretty well.Equipment
NIkon D7200 with a Nikon 18-140 f/3.5-5.6 kit lens. If you have enough lighting the 18-140 is a fantastic lens... produces sharp, clean photos!Inspiration
I love taking photos of my pets and always wanted a picture of my dog in a beautiful flower field. Unfortunately I don't live close to any open areas or flower fields so I decided to do a composite. She is a happy dog and I designed it with her happiness in mind. One day I hope to get a real life picture like this.Editing
I used Photoshop to do a composite. Once I placed my dog and the background it was a combination of perfecting the cutout, matching colors, moving the sunset to the right side of the image, and adding a soft sun flare. In my camera bag
In my bag I have a Nikon D7200, Nikon 35mm f/1.8, Nikon 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6, and depending on the shoot I sometimes rent the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 or Nikon 70-200 f/2.8.Feedback
Composites require practice, practice, practice. The fun thing is that you can literally design anything you want! I tend to get visions in the middle of the night... for me it usually starts with a photo I've already taken and I get an idea of what to do from there. However it comes to you, just take the time to learn, practice, and perfect.
