Behind The Lens

Location

This little fellow just flew next to me as I was photographing the Toronto skyline from Tommy Thompson Park, I just couldn't resist capturing his beauty in the moment!

Time

This photo was taken in the mid evening in late spring/early summer of 2020.

Lighting

I have a preference to using natural lighting, in this photograph the sun was slowly beginning to set, and was beside me so when I turned to face this dragonfly the sun was to my back and shining upon the dragonfly.

Equipment

This photo was taken using an Olympus e520 camera 40-150 mm lens, no flash, on macro setting.

Inspiration

I was on a routine wander through Tommy Thompson Park (conservation area) in Toronto, Canada looking for sunsets, birds and any other creatures and landscapes to photograph, as being amongst nature is always an inspiration to me.

Editing

Yes in this photo I did post processing to straighten and highlight the background from the dragonfly and his wings to make a more vibrant photograph.

In my camera bag

At the time this photo was taken I had a macro tripod and my camera and 3 lenses with me, however I have lately been sticking to just my camera and 40-150 mm lens.

Feedback

I would say to hang around areas with water and a lot of foliage, you can do this at anytime of day, I prefer evenings or earlier mornings when trying to photograph certain animals and insects and landscapes.
