The region where I live has substantial light pollution during the night. So after researching potential locations with less light pollution and a water body to reflect stars, I scouted this location during the day. Then I waited several weeks for a clear night with no wind. This is a Bortle 3 location, about as dark as it gets in my neck of the woods.
