I just HAD to find out what happens when you fire the flash into a turning disco lamp and reflect it down on an old CD lying on the dinner table...and well… besides subsequently getting the fun of several hours editing (the CD was very scratched) and learning how vector masks can be used I liked the colors and all the disco light flares. For those interested in doing something similar, it took several attempts both with the pencils on the disc and with the disc alone. The ones used here are one photo for the disc (where the colors were as I wanted) and one photo with the pencils getting the right light as well. Then Photoshop magic-nightmare from there…
I like that the pencils are randomly placed but to get that perfectly symmetry one could use a cup-glass to place the pencils up against and use some kind of distance measurement item or tool between the pencils…and while that process can be repeated a thousand times…the exact way the pencils are placed in this photo...is more unique and more ‘THIS specific moment’ to me.
