Young female bengal tiger photographed in Ranthambore National Park, Rajastan, India. Bengal tigers are threatened by poaching, loss, and fragmentation of habitat, and were estimated at comprising fewer than 2,500 individuals by 2011, putting them on the endangered list. Bengal tigers rank amongst the biggest wild cats alive today and are regarded to have symbolic values to many. Bengal tigers are the national animal of both India and Bangladesh. Seeing them up close was a thrill ..... they truly are magnificent and majestic cats ... which is why they are also known as Royal Bengal tigers.
