Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a lookout in lakes entrance victoria Australia. Taken after the bush fires that nearly wiped out the town.My husband and I came here to support the local businesses by taking a weekend trip and I wanted to capture how beautiful this place is and encourage people to visit.

Time

Taken around 10am not the golden hour as alot of my shots usually are. One last shot before we headed home.

Lighting

Due to the conditions there was alot a haze in the air this created a natural softbox defusing the light beautifully.

Equipment

Using my recently aquired canon eos r mirrorless camera which I love and a L lens 70-200mm f2.8 unusual choice but the results speak for themselve. No flash all natural and used the fence to keep the horizon straight so no tripod required either.

Inspiration

I wanted to capture the grandness of this lake and love the colours that a fresh and vibrant.Embracing the feeling of summer. Also showcase this amazing place that are struggling due to the bushfires.

Editing

Only use lightroom to enhance the true colours and adjust the white balance. Personally I try to keep my pictures as close to what I see with my naked eye.

In my camera bag

My canon eosr mirrorless camera, a canon 50mm f1.8 prime lens, a canon 70-200mm f2.8 L lens and have a sigma 10-20mm f4 to 5.6 wide angle lens that unfortunately is not compatible with my new camera. Honestly best landscape lens. Keep it simple.

Feedback

When trying to capture a simular photo always check whats in the frame and composition is very important.What draws you into the picture, don't be afraid to change positions. You move not the camera.One last tips shot in the golden hour. Happy snapping
