Location
I was driving from Evenes airport in nothern part of Nowary, on my way to the Lofoten islands. Just on the side of the road there were a few reindeers looking for food.Time
The photo is taken around mid day.Lighting
The sky was overcast and the reflections on the sea behind the reindeer created this almost white background. My vision was to get the reindeer in almost entirely white background and foreground.Equipment
This picture was taken using a Nikon D850 with a Nikon 200-500 f/5.6 lens, no use of tripod. I had to lay flat on the ground in the snow in order to create a low perspective.Inspiration
I had a week off and travelled to Lofoten to do some epic winter shooting. On the way from the airport there was a lot of nice motives along the road. When I spotted the reindeers close to the road I stopped the car and got my camera. The reindeers looked at me and seemed to not be bothered that I was there. In the end I managed to get quite close to get a good picture. I was freezing after laying in the snow, but happy to get some good pictures from the reindeers.Editing
The picture was post-processed with basic adjustments in Lightroom. I had to do some adjustment with the background light to get it even more white.In my camera bag
In my bag I have the Nikon D850, my go to lens is usually Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 and Tamron 70-200 f/2.8. I also have a Nikon 600mm f/4 for wildlife, a Tamron 15-30mm wide-angle lens that I also use for night-sky shoots, and a Samyang 100mm macro lens.Feedback
This photo was not a planned photo, I did not know that this was an area where there could be reindeers. But northern part of Norway would be a good option if you wanted reindeer photos. So keep you're eyes open and look for good picture opportunities while driving!
