I was waiting for the sky to light up. Perfect conditions would have been some nice clouds beiing lit up, just above the skyline. But the sky was cloud free this freezing january night, but even so I got some nice orange colors in the sky.Equipment
The photo is taken on a Nikon D850 With a Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 G2 lens. I used a tripod in order to get a long exposure.Inspiration
I wanted to get one of those epic shots of the New York City skyline. Many photos of the skyline is taken from the park just below the bride. But I wanted o get a higher viewpoint and choose to walk up and onto the bridge.Editing
When I took the picture I used the bracketing function on my camera. This was in order to process two pictures with different exposure, one main picture and one to correct for blown out highlights in all the Bright city lights. Other adjustments was some basic exposure adjustments, contrasts, whitebalance, sharpening and some noise reduction, due to the higher iso settings.In my camera bag
My camera is the Nikon D850. For lenses I have the Tamron 15-39 f/2.8 G2 lens, Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 G2 lens, Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 G2 lens and the Nikon 200-500 f/5.6 lens. I always carry a tripod (Manfrotto) and a timer.Feedback
Use a tripod. But you need to use higher iso settings if you like a bit blurred water. Since the Manhattan bridge is moving quite a lot it is impossible to get very long exposures.
