Behind The Lens

Location

This is a walkway in front of the Diamonstein Concert Hall at the Ferguson Center for the Arts at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia.

Time

This was in mid-afternoon, around 2:30pm.

Lighting

This was a sunny day, which for this location provided good contrast between the dark and light parts of the arches.

Equipment

I used an iPhone X.

Inspiration

Seeing the repeating pattern of light and dark as well as the curve of the arches provided a good opportunity for an effective photo.

Editing

I did increase contrast and sharpening to bring out and accentuate the differences in lighting of the inner and outer parts of the arches.

In my camera bag

I usually just carry my iPhone, but sometimes will bring my Canon 5D Mk. IV with a Tamron 24-70mm G2 lens.

Feedback

Always look for interesting compositions in architecture, often looking up and/or from different angles to find a good shot.
