Welcoming the new year and the start of the new decade 2020 at Melbourne CBD with a bang. This shall be recorded as my first fireworks shot of the decade.

I reached Clarendon Street Bridge at approx 10pm after a NYE's dinner, a bit late and actually wasn't expecting to get a spot on the bridge. Luck was on my side to be able to find a space to squeeze myself in. I therefore planted myself there, set up my camera and tripod then waited patiently for the midnight stroke while 'protecting' my territory from being 'hijacked' for 2 hours. I knew that if I decided to change my mind and moved elsewhere, I would be definitely left with no where to shoot. The bridge was getting sardine packed as midnight drew closer with people already spilling onto the road.

I felt this year's fireworks proper lacked the grandeur 'oomph' (perhaps it's the spot where took the shot from and comparing with 2018). I guess in the attempt to cover as many locations as possible to give the opportunity to as many people as possible to view the fireworks, the display was spreaded out too thinly making it looking a bit too sparse. Don't get me wrong, I love Melbourne and kudos to the city's effort in their attempt to usher in the new year with a bang. ☺☺☺

However making up for the lacklustre presentation, it was a golden opportunity capturing the fireworks up close and personal that lit up the CBD sky, creating a dazzling and awesomely colorful vibrant reflections off the Yarra River, adding that spark of life to the river and Melbourne's city skyline. The weather was a cool 18°C with mild breeze making it very conducive for an outdoor shoot.

Here's wishing everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020 and may the start of this new decade brings everyone more joy, happiness and peace. And my thoughts go out to those who are tirelessly working round the clock managing the bushfires around regional VIC and NSW. Kudos to them.
