Technically this is my last image captured for the ending decade of 2019. While waiting for the midnight stroke on 2020 NYE and since I've already prepared myself on the bridge, I decided to capture the Gas Brigades Show by Crown Melbourne prior to the New Year fireworks. Eight towers along Melbourne’s Southbank shoot the world’s largest fireballs into the night’s sky, with jaw-dropping spectacle.
This photo is a composite of 2 frames blended together via lighten mode using Photoshop. Base image is captured without the fireballs ensuring the most ideal overall exposure of the CBD is obtained while the 2nd image is timed and captured when all the fireballs are simultaneously spewed into the air.
Merging these 2 shots ensured a final image is obtained with everything properly exposed and capturing the dazzling colourful reflection on the Yarra River.
D750, 14-24mm at 14mm focal range, 5 secs, ISO200, f-8.0, manual focus, tripod, bulb mode, remote shutter release, composite, blending, lighten mode, Photoshop, vertical correction via LR
