After checking the weather forecast app and a brief visual check, I thought that the weather is conducive enough and took a drive to Kilcunda Trestle Bridge at my second attempt to capture the Milky Way with a bridge structure (first being the Malmsbury Viaduct) before the season ends. It was a clear night with no clouds in sight at approx 11.30pm when I arrived and the temp was a cool 12°C making it very comfortable for outdoor shoot.
There were a couple of cars passing along the Bass Hwy and I had intentionally timed my shot so that I could use the light from the headlights to illuminate the bridge a little.
The Milky Way is already now in a horizontal plane, the distance is some what further away from earth making it much smaller and easier to capture its entirety. In a few weeks to come, it will hover closer to the horizon before it goes on a 6 months long holiday.
Milky Way season is coming to an end.
Captured with Nikon D750 at 14mm, f-2.8, 20secs, ISO3200
