It's that time of the year again. An aerial-drone view of Salt Water Lake aka 'pink lake' as seen from 60m AGL with the West Gate Bridge in the background.
A natural phenomenon caused by very high salt levels in the water, high temperatures, sunlight and lack of rainfall. Algae growing in the salt crust at the bottom of the lake produces the red pigment (beta carotene) as part of its photosynthesis process, hence the pink color.
