Location
I drive past here everyday on my way to work. Down along the Vermillion river in Minnesota.Time
Early in the afternoon after enough fog had burned off to see the trees at all, but before it all burned off.Lighting
Waiting for the fog to burn off enough meant the lighting was extra flat with almost no direction to it.Equipment
7DMKII and my 17-40mm f/4 on a tripod.Inspiration
In pure contrast to the exceedingly bright and beautiful fall colors the month prior. The water was higher then and created a clean vista of trees and their explosively bright foliage. It was gorgeous, but work always got in the way of capturing it.Editing
Usual bump of: contrast, clarity, texture, white level. Fairly deep drop of the black level to get the trees to cut through. Tons of cleaning up for the hundreds of small pieces of floating debris in the water. In my camera bag
Canon EOS 7DMKII, EF 14-40mm f/4, EF 24-105mm f/4 IS, EF 70-200mm f/4, EF 100mm f/2.8 IS, circular polarizers, neutral density filters, lens cleaning supplies, flashlight, small first aid kit, spare battery. Whatever bits and bobs make their way into it and overstay their welcome until the next cleaning.Feedback
First off please be safe while around highways, situational awareness and bright visible clothing are essential. Stay aware of how things change throughout the seasons. The contrasts are phenomenal even in our everyday tracks.
