Location
It was a long wait in Doha airport. The architecture of Hamad International Airport is admirable so I enjoyed passing the time with my cameraTime
Some time during the night. Due to the big change in time zones between Madrid , the Middle East and my final destination Malaysia I really can't tell.Lighting
There are hundreds of lights there. the biggest challenge was the modern chandelier in the centre of the picture. I moved around to avoid flare.Equipment
My D4 because it is good at night and a 24-70 standard zoom. Nothing else neededInspiration
Watching the display of reflections in the ornamental fountain and admiring the dribble and and sound of the drops I mused a while till I found a good spot. It was a real challenge and well worth it.Editing
Converted it to BW in Exposure X something , carefully leaving enough levels of grey and making a brightblue reflection of a billboard go away.In my camera bag
The said D4, that standard zoom, a 18 or 12mm MF super wide angle , some vintage Nikkor to produce bokeh and a 180mm Macro form Sigma. Optionally an 85 1.4 or a 300 2.8 tele (vintage).Feedback
Take your time. Look at the angles, the ripples and make extra sure that you don't get any unwanted distractions . Breathe in to avoid motion blur.
