One of our tours while on a Viking Cruise was a glimpse of the Moscow Metro Stations. The Mayakovskaya Metro Station is considered one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world. Opened in 1938 it shows a future based on the poet Mayakovsky and includes 34 ceiling mosaics depicting "24 Hours in the Land of the Soviets". A side note, during WWII Stalin took residence here.
