Location
Taken in Tennessee, near Fairfield Glades, between Nashville and Knoxville. There is a hike down to a river there and then about 4 miles back to your car. This magnificent Beech tree just stood there amongst much smaller trees.Time
4:27 PM on Sept 28, 2019.Lighting
It was mid to late afternoon and I was shooting towards the north. The area was pretty dark but the upper leaves were still lit with the sun.Equipment
I used a Kolari modified Nikon D750 - converted to full-spectrum, but with a filter for IR.Inspiration
The Beech Tree was so clearly 'alone' in its size. Other trees had been forested -- but apparently, perhaps because of the likelihood of being a hollow tree and not good for wood, this tree was still standing! I felt it needed to be documented!Editing
One can post-process IR to pretty much anything! I chose a result that had blue sky (and redish/pink leaves). All performed in Photoshop CC.In my camera bag
I carry both a Nikon D850 and a Nikon D750 full spectrum camera body. I have various lenses - including some 50+yo M42 lenses.Feedback
I have both an IR-converted camera and a full spectrum camera. Both are Nikons. I really like the ability to use filters to obtain the look I want with the full-spectrum camera! I can even get UV photos with it!
