It reminds me of these stories of ghostly figures materialising out of this air and cause car accidents! 😁

it's obvious to me that you are well beyond the amateur greatest photographer. your compositions overall are far beyond a lot that I see. keep up the good work. later

Location
The photo was taken in the woods on a hill above my home town of Two Run, West Virginia. The little town of 250 was later incorporated into the county seat of Clay, West Virginia.Time
I was leaving town after visiting with my parents. I noticed the fog was rising from the river and was in the trees about half way up the surrounding hills. I remembered this dirt road and decided to check out whether the rising fog was still in the road. It was taken on July 3, 2006 at 08:25 AM.Lighting
I loved the way the fog filtered the morning light. It looked both a little scary (like, "Don't enter here!!") and, at the same time, seemed so serene & quiet. That early in the morning there is almost no wind and every thing was deathly still except for an occasionally bird.Equipment
I had my Nikon D70 on a tripod.Inspiration
I'm always looking for ways to create photos that can show others the beauty of West Virginia - and perhaps inspire them to go visit. I have wonderful memories of my childhood days - playing (and working) on my grandfather's farm, hiking & hunting in the woods & camping with the Boy Scouts. When I go back to visit family and friends, I always try to get back to those times and try to capture some of the visual essence of those days.Editing
I took four photos at f/16 - one each at 30 sec, 15 sec, 8 sec, and 2 sec - at ISO 200. I recently pulled them into HDR Efex Pro 2 to create a realistic photo with a wide dynamic range. Also, the originals had a coke can in along the road that I did not see when exposing the photograph! I removed it with Photoshop tools. In my camera bag
I carry a Nikon D850 now, with several lenses; AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR, AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR, AF DC-NIKKOR 135mm f/2D, & a Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC. I also carry a Nikon D750 converted to IR by Life pixel.Feedback
Be alert for morning fog near rivers when the weather has been warm. Drive or walk along paths or roads into those woods. Farms, country scenes, barnyards, barns - pretty much anything rural - will look great with fog!! Also, I find with fog a huge range of exposure between the sometimes almost white fog and the dark areas between trees. Shadows in fog are almost always muted and indistinct. Therefore I recommend multiple exposures and a blending method of your choice. KEEP in 'natural'!!
