Location
I was on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. This tree was on the west side of the road towards Elgol from Broadford. There were lots of sheep!Time
It was about 3 pm local time in May. There was a light drizzle of rain most of the day. The rain clouds moved rather swiftly across the horizon -- only briefly would they appear to 'catch' on the mountain tops.Lighting
The lighting was rather flat and without shadows. However, the brilliance of the green grass offset the lack of bright sunshine.Equipment
I used a Nikon D750 at f/9.5 with five images from 1/125sec to 1/30sec blended. I used a tripod and a GPS attachment.Inspiration
The windswept appearance of the tree attracted me immediately! The background of rain-soaked mountains made a great setting.Editing
I removed the distracting piles of sheep & goat dung. I also blended the photos into this particular result. I used both Lightroom and Photoshop. In my camera bag
I carry Nikon cameras - one D850 now with a D750 that has been converted to full spectrum for IR photos. I have a 24 - 70 f/2.8 Di VC USD Tamron lens most of the time. I also carry a 20mm Nikon manual lens and a NIkon 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 lens. And a tripod.Feedback
Unless you know the land, go online and hire a photographer that takes and publishes photos from the area. They'll more likely know the right spots to be at the right time. I'd never have found this spot without a guide as it was hidden over a small hill from the road!
