Behind The Lens

Location

We have developed areas of natural growth in our back yard in efforts to attract nature. This spider was found on a blade of grass allowed to grow and seed.

Time

It was late in the day, I had gone out to start up the BBQ, and there the spider was. Like so many photographers before and after me...distraction, about a hundred shots later, I was a little later with dinner, I have a VERY understanding family.

Lighting

It was a bright sunny day. As the sun began to set it began to highlight everything, I took full advantage. Nature provides us with golden opportunities and the skills to take advantage of them.

Equipment

I used my Huawei P30 cell phone in super macro mode, and got up close to the subject

Inspiration

I am an avid bug and bird guy. If flies, crawls, jumps, moves, or just looks cool...I have to take it's picture, several times. Our backyard is a magnet for all such creatures big and small. Finding new species, and capturing new things is an adventure.

Editing

I sharpened the image, tones, and light only a very little in the phone's settings. This picture was ideal from the get go and my model cooperated fully at my intrusion

In my camera bag

My wife and I travel together and share in the experience of nature. We also share a variety of equipment. A Nikon D90, Nikon D3300, and Nikon D7000, with a Nikkor 18-70mm, Nikkor 70-300mm, and a Sigma18-250mm lenses. We have a tripod we seldom use. a pair of Bushnell sportsman 10x42 binoculars and of course our cell phones.

Feedback

I have always had a love for nature and now the ability to see the world differently since i picked up a digital camera. Things i used to overlook, walk by, even ignore now literally jump out and say hello. I cannot have my cameras with me 24/7/365, my life and employer are not always understanding. Life gives us the opportunity to take five and smell the roses...take full advantage of that, take your time, and take the shot. If for some reason you miss it, you will get another opportunity, of even a different one...be patient and love the adventure.
