Location
This photo was taken at my in-laws cottage just outside of Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada.Time
I took the photo in the early afternoon while enjoying time with my family.Lighting
It was a warm summer day, the sun was shining that day with just a few clouds in the sky.Equipment
I used a Nikon D90 f/5.6 1/200 second exposure time at a focal lenth of 300mm. I was using a nikkor 70 to 300mm lens i had borrowed to use on an upcoming holiday and was getting same practice with.Inspiration
The flowers were planted by my mother-in-law to attract the humming birds. Our cottage life includes hikes, games, and good food and drink. My eyes are always open and i like to try to catch the humming birds...taking a great picture of one is a challenge.Editing
I did nothing to tamper with the shot, except to zoom in a bit and crop the photo. In my camera bag
My camera is a Nikon D90, a AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm lens, and a AF-S Nikkor 18-70mm lens. My greatest asset is my fellow hobbyist and love of my life Raine who is also a viewbug member.Feedback
My greatest piece of advice for anyone is patience and practice. It took me many many unsuccessful tries, with several close seconds to get this shot. Create your opportunities, have confidence in yourself, and learn from peers, books and experiences.
