Location
This photo was taken in Macau, at the Harbour View Hotel. This place was specifically chosen because although it is in Macau, China the hotel aims to resemble the center European city of Prague, a feeling i wanted to keep as the model (Olga) is from Poland.Time
This was taken during morning time, in fact we started early morning, around 8am and shoot until about 11am. That's the time that the sun rises and comes in slightly through the side windows.Lighting
I tried to use as much natural light as possible, using just on speedlight in the interior as filling.Equipment
Camera: Canon 7D MkII Lens: Several (if i am not wrong this shot was made on the Sigma Art lens 24-105. Speedlight: Canon 600 EX II RT (off camera)Inspiration
I am always inspired by both the model and the environment. So as i mentioned earlier, the idea to shoot in this location that resembles some of the central European cities feelings in coordination with the model from Poland was the essential. Central European Glamour was all that was in my mind.Editing
Yes, sure, the original photo was shoot in colors and then I changed it into monochrome, i also did some light corrections and slightly skin adjustments, nothing big as Olga is super perfect :)In my camera bag
It really depends. I would say a zoom like the Sigma Art 24-105 (just in case) and when I am really not sure about space and angles and a couple of primes such as a 24mm 2.8, the always present 50mm 1.4 (for difficult light situations and DOF playing) and I have been using a lot lately the 35mm 1.4 from Sigma Art series too... Great lens although moody (I like that).Feedback
My only advise is... Don't over plan! Try to be prepared and play with the conditions you have and with what you see. I often see frustration coming out of photo-sessions because people plan everything so much and to the smallest detail that the possibility of something going wrong is incredibly high. Be flexible!
