This is a sectional view of the jungle fringing the Sinharaja Forest Reserve, located within the Southern - Sabaragamuwa Provinces of Sri Lanka. The Sinharaja Forest Reserve, is the best-known and the last remaining Tropical Rainforest in Sri Lanka and has been declared a World Heritage Site due to its exceptional biodiversity.This image was captured from outside the forest reserve, while walking along its Eastern periphery, during a bird watching tour. I was struck by the sheer scale and beauty of the forest and its dense vegetation, rising as it were, wave upon wave of greenery, differentiated only by the subtlety of its hues. The image was shot handheld.
