Behind The Lens

Location

This was captured in a local botanical center during a camera club outing.

Time

I believe it was a little past noon. The botanical center is all indoors.

Lighting

Room lighting without flash.

Equipment

Nikon D5000, Nikkor 18-200mm lens, Manfrotto tripod

Inspiration

We had a couple of these plants growing in our backyard when I was growing up. I used to "pop" the buds, much to the consternation of my mom. As I looked at the 2 flowers dangling there, they reminded me of a pair of little girls in tutu's dancing.

Editing

I removed the surrounding foliage, replacing it with a bokeh background I had created long before.

In my camera bag

Nikon D5000, Nikkor 18-200mm lens, Tamron 60mm Macro lens, a variety of filters, an SB-800 flash

Feedback

As you compose your shot, think about what story you want the image to tell when all is said and done.
